Stages of building an extension – What to Expect


Thinking about extending your home?

Here’s how we turn your vision into reality, step by step. Our experienced team manages every stage, ensuring a smooth, stress-free process from start to finish.


SITE SETUP

We prepare the site for safe and efficient work, including protective fencing, welfare facilities, and access arrangements.


DRAINAGE

All necessary drainage is installed or adjusted to suit your new extension, ensuring compliance with building regulations.

FOUNDATIONS & OVERSITE

We excavate and lay robust new foundations, then construct the oversite (the base slab) for a solid start.

Build Walls – Brickwork or Timber Frame

External and internal walls are built to your chosen specification, using quality materials for strength and insulation.


Scaffolding

Scaffolding is erected as needed for safe access during construction.

Floor Construction

The new floor structure is installed, whether it's concrete, timber, or a specialist system.

Roof Construction

We build your new roof—flat or pitched—using modern, weatherproof materials.

Fascias, Soffits & Guttering

Roofline details are fitted to protect your extension and provide a neat finish.

Knock Through (if required)


Where your extension connects to the existing house, we carefully create openings as specified in your plans.

Steel Beams & Lintels (if required)

Structural supports are installed to ensure safety and compliance.

Windows & Doors

All new windows and doors are fitted, making your extension secure and weather-tight.

Internal Stud Walls (if required)

Additional internal walls are formed to create rooms or storage as needed.

Second Fix Electrics & Plumbing

Sockets, switches, light fittings, radiators, and plumbing fixtures are installed.

Internal Joinery

We fit internal doors, skirting boards, architraves, and window boards for a complete look.

Kitchen, Bathroom & Fittings (if required)

Any kitchen, bathroom, or specialist fittings are installed to your specification.

Decoration

New walls, ceilings, and woodwork are decorated to your chosen style.

Site Clearance

We remove all waste and materials, leaving your home clean and ready to enjoy.


Certificates & Handover

All relevant certificates are supplied, and your extension is handed over ready for you to use.

Follow Our Simple step process when carrying out an extension:

  • 1. Site Visit.

    We will book you in for a site visit, to discuss your ideas and requirements, 

    We offer you current and accurate advice of what to consider when building your extension, completly free of charge. We will then send you a detailed quotation.  

  • 2. Build.

    We pride ourselves on being able to deliver all projects on time within budget. 



    A Site Forman will be responsible for the whole build of your extension, from the start of the build right through to the completion. 



    This will be the person you can liaise with on a daily basis and will coordinate the various trades and suppliers needed to build your extension. 



    We also have Offices in Basildon, so you always have a point of contact over the phone or by email. 



    During your build, our Project Manager will visit you on a daily/weekly basis. They will ensure that work is progressing in accordance with the work schedule and address any concerns or questions which you may have.



    The Building Control Inspector will also be attending the site once each stage is complete. They will ensure that all aspects of the work are being carried out in accordance with Building Control Regulations.
